Course Description:
This course establishes the foundation for the science of Tajwid (Quranic recitation). Students will focus on the precise articulation and recognition of the Arabic alphabet, mastering the distinct Makharij (points of articulation) for every letter. The curriculum progresses from individual letter recognition to compound word formation, incorporating basic vowel patterns and orthographic rules. By the end of the course, students will demonstrate the ability to read joined Arabic script with phonetic accuracy.

Course Requirements:
This class meets in person, and live attendance is required. Recorded audio will be provided only for excused absences. To obtain credit, students must complete all assigned coursework which may include quizzes and exams, both written and oral.
No Class Dates: Apr 9 (Spring Break)
Tuition: $200
Transcripts: This is a credit-bearing course. Final grades will be permanently recorded on your official student transcript.
Retake Policy: Students are permitted to retake this course in future semesters to improve their recorded grade.
