The Post-graduate Diploma in Islamic Studies builds on the GD program by further advancing students in classical scholarship and contemporary intellectual engagement. Students undertake in-depth study of advanced fiqh, uṣūl, and tafsīr, while completing a full, guided reading of all six canonical books of ḥadīth. By the completion of the PGD, students will have covered the full scope of subjects traditionally included in a comprehensive ʿĀlimiyyah program—along with additional training in modern legal theory, intellectual history, and engagement with contemporary and post-modern Muslim thinkers. Graduates develop the scholarly maturity and research ability necessary to teach advanced community courses, contribute to ongoing intellectual discourse, and pursue further specialization or applied scholarship within the Islamic sciences.
Note: Completion of the GD is a prerequisite for the PGD. All GD credits transfer automatically toward the PGD.
